Directions to the Worksites within the Spring Creek Forest Preserves:

Penny Road Pond

Beverly Lake

Healy Road Savanna

Steeplechase Shrubland

LongMeadow Prairie

Bluff Spring Fen

Headwaters:

West: Just west of Wichman Road (Headwaters) on Higgins Road (Rt. 72) watch for our cars on the right and pull off on the side of Higgins Road.

East: Higgins Rd., north of I-90 andwest of Sutton Rd./Rt.59. Turn north onto Wichman Rd.

Take Rt. 59 to Penny Rd. (north of Higgins, south of Dundee). Go west on Penny Rd. through the forest preserves and look for the parking lot on the south side.

Enter from Higgins Rd., north of I-90 and west of Sutton Rd./Rt.59. Turn north to parking lot for Beverly Lake Forest Preserve.

Winter Parking Directions: PLEASE park on Healy Road on the East Side of the berm. This will be plowed. You can get there from the East by taking Penny Rd past the Penny Road Pond to the stop sign (this is the Healy/Penny Rd junction.) Take a left onto Healy and continue to the end which is the berm. Park there and walk around the berm to the pig barn. We will gather there.

Park behind the Barrington Riding Center, 361 Bateman Rd., Barrington Hills. On east side of Bateman Rd., north of Algonquin Rd.

Take Bateman Rd. to Longmeadow Rd. which is between Dundee Rd., (Rt. 68) and Algonquin Rd. Park on the north side of Longmeadow Rd. Please do not park on the grass. The entrance to the prairie is across Bateman. Follow the signs to the site.

From the Spring Creek area, get to Bluff Spring Fen by taking Rt. 59 south to Rt. 20. Then take 20 west to Bluff City Blvd, turning left on it. Then go just a few blocks to Bluff City Cemetery. Enter the cemetery and follow the curving main road to the Bluff Spring Fen parking area.”
